Clay ArchivesClay Archives is an ongoing research initiative by Elena Genesio and Emmie Massias focusing on clay as a lens to reflect on the geopolitical and territorial agency of soil.
Through field investigations and a hands-on approach, Clay Archives seeks to examine the socio-political forces affecting water scarcity and soil depletion across geographical areas.
The first exploration, Under Scorched Earth, focused on Sicily and harvesting as an agent to examine the
historical and territorial dynamics between
drought, tourism and ownership in the
region.
This first chapter, together with its results and the following steps, will be gathered as material archives on an online platform.
Exhibited as part of Tools of Rekindling at DDW 2024
