    (W)aardewerk x Alluvial Grounds
With (w)aardewerk, Crafts Council Nederland draws attention to urgent issues surrounding the extraction of raw materials in relation to the production of ceramics. Raw materials for clayware come directly from the earth, but due to drought, excavation, a loss of biodiversity, polluting firing processes and cheap mass production, clayware is far from sustainable in today’s day and age. In (w)aardewerk, makers explore sustainable perspectives and potential futures for ceramics.Crafts Council Nederland has been invited to take part in the Hangzhou Cultural and Creative Industry Expo, which will be held from 17 to 20 October 2025 in Hangzhou, China.

The participating makers are Benedetta Pompili, Christine Jetten, Elena Genesio, Hannah Rose Whittle, Jesse Greulich, Leonie Goejer, Marieke van Heesbeen, Natasja van der Meer, Rinke Joosten and Rink Schelling.
