Alluvial Vessels
Alluvial Vessels is a series of slip-cast ceramic objects made from wild river clay from the Maas and Rhine floodplains in the Netherlands. Made from different combinations of clay, foraged and processed entirely by hand, this family of vessels is inspired by the geometries of retaining seawalls.
Their shape echos the intensive engineering of the Dutch landscape its continuous negotiation between land water.
The project is part of the ongoing project by Elena Genesio, researching how local clay foraging can reveal broader dynamics of land management and advocate for a more caring and situated approach to craft.
Alluvial Vessels has been exhibited at New Generation: Passie voor Keramiek at Keramiekcentrum Tiendschuur Tegelen and at Sustainable Stories during Delftse Keramiek Dagen.
